Canada and the Philippines strengthen cybersecurity partnership

Canadian Ambassador to the Philippines David Hartman committed to deploy experts to the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center during his visit to the National Cybercrime Hub (NCH) in Bonifacio Global City in Taguig City on March 10. He was welcomed by CICC Executive Director Alexander K. Ramos and considers the partnership to be pivotal in strengthening the country’s cybersecurity posture.
CANADA-PHILIPPINE CYBER SECURITY EXPERTS MEET AT NCH. Government of Canada Senior Official for Cyber Security Sami Khoury met with Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC) Executive Director Alexander K. Ramos at the National Cybercrime Hub (NCH) at the Bonifacio Global City in Taguig City on March 10. Khoury provides cyber security expert advice and guidance to deputy ministers and senior officials across the Government of Canada. This role, with Khoury’s extensive experience and knowledge, is critical to safeguarding Canada’s digital infrastructure and advancing national security interests.

TAGUIG, Philippines — Canada reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening its cybersecurity partnership with the Philippines by providing expert training to the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC).

Canadian Ambassador to the Philippines David Hartman made this commitment during his visit to the National Cybercrime Hub (NCH) in Bonifacio Global City in Taguig City on March 10.

Moreover, the ambassador commended the CICC for its outstanding efforts in fighting cybercrime.

The CICC and Canada’s Cyber Center, the country’s authority on cybersecurity, would benefit both nations.

Sami Khoury, the former head of the Canadian Cyber Center from 2021 to 2024, leads this expert training.

“This collaboration is also part of Canada’s broader strategy to establish a secure economic corridor in the region, ensuring safe and resilient digital infrastructure for trade and investment,” Ambassador Hartman said.

Also, CICC Executive Director Alexander K. Ramos lauded this partnership with Canada.

“This will equip the Philippines with world-class technical and analytical skills to protect its digital infrastructure,” Ramos stated.

He added that Khoury’s decades of experience at Canada’s Communications Security Establishment will fortify the country’s cybersecurity posture.
